BUYING GUIDE / APPAREL PROJECT

What to look for in a tech pack
Use it with the right version.

A tech pack should connect a garment drawing to materials, measurements, trims, artwork and revision history.

Check the document identity

  • Style name or reference code and revision date.
  • Front, back and construction details that match the written notes.
  • A clear distinction between required features and visual inspiration.

Check the specification

  • Fabric description, fibre composition and weight as separate fields.
  • Measurement points, units, size range and any grading rules.
  • Colour references, artwork files, labels, trims and packaging instructions.

Keep revisions visible

When a decision changes, identify which page or file was replaced. Keep the approved version together with the sample comments so that old artwork or measurements are not mistaken for the current instruction.
